New Product Award

SLAS2019 is a must-attend industry event and the perfect venue to launch your company's new product or service. Thousands of the world's leading scientists, researchers, engineers, academics and business leaders working in life sciences technology and discovery attend SLAS’s International Conference and Exhibition. Throughout the conference, these highly experienced professionals provide keen insight on the products they see and help advocate for their use across the life sciences community.

More than 300 companies will showcase products and services in the SLAS2019 Exhibition.

Gain extra recognition for your product by entering it into the New Product Award, which will be judged and awarded on site at SLAS2019. Distinguish your company and new technology by promoting it before the conference. Among other benefits, you'll enjoy invaluable free publicity courtesy of SLAS.

To submit your new product for the SLAS New Product Award, complete the application between May 31 and 1:00 p.m. on February 3. A link to the application will be available on this page no later than May 31.

The SLAS New Product Award (NPA) designation will be presented to up to three winning product entries at SLAS2019. Recipients of the award will receive the following:

  • Official SLAS NPA designation plaque
  • SLAS NPA designation media coverage
  • Inclusion in SLAS Awards news release
  • Photo on SLAS2019 website

Competition Guidelines and Process

All exhibiting companies are notified of the SLAS New Product Award and given the opportunity to submit their product for consideration.

All product entries must be on the exhibition floor and have supporting data indicating the product works as advertised. (Exceptions may be made for product entries deemed too large to display at the Exhibition.) Supporting data MUST be in printed form for the judges to take with them for discussion.

  • Supporting data may include, but is not limited to, on-site demonstration, product literature and statistics, podium and/or poster presentations about the product or similar data.
  • The product entry must be less than one year old in its current form (since SLAS's previous annual conference) to be considered.

What is a “New Product”? A product is considered new, and therefore eligible for the award, if it is commercially available for purchase within 90 days pre- and post-conference.

Major product enhancements to an existing product may be considered.

Innovation AveNEW submissions — new products from companies participating on Innovation AveNEW will be considered only if the product is commercially available for purchase within 90 days pre- and 180 days post-conference.

Evaluation Guidelines and Judging Process

Judging will take place Monday, February 4 and Tuesday, February 5 on the Exhibition floor.

A panel of judges will visit the booths and meet with your company representative to review and score the new product. There may be more than one group of judges visiting the booth during exhibition hours.

  • There must always be AT LEAST ONE person at the booth during the judging time frame who is capable of discussing the product with the judges.

Note: At the primary judges' discretion, they may choose up to three top new product entries, but no more than three winners. During some years, there may only be one or two top new product winners.

The top three winning companies of the SLAS NPA Designation must have agreed to participate in the competition and pre-accept the designation before being officially awarded.

Confirmation and Announcement

Tuesday afternoon, February 5 — notifications in the booth, followed shortly with the New Product Press Conference in the Exhibition Theater. Announcements will also be made on Wednesday morning in the Closing Keynote Session.
